SPECIAL TOWN BOARD MEETING  (June 27, 2006)

 

The meeting was held June 27, 2006, 7:00 PM at the Phillippo Scout Reservation, 30654 32nd Ave. Way, Cannon Falls, MN

 

Chairman Bob Benson called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM.

Vice Chair Joyce Moorhouse was present along with Supervisor Dave Garner, clerk Betts Top and treasurer Kenneth Ebert.

 

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

 

The meeting was posted in the Red Wing Republican for 5 days starting May 26, 2006. The meeting was posted in the Cannon Falls Beacon for 2 weeks starting June 1, 2006

The meeting was posted at the Old Town Hall on May 26, 2006

The meeting was posted via email and 4 residents of the township were advised on May 18th, 2006.

 

Meeting Purpose:

 

  1. Opening of Town Hall Bids
  2. Discussion of Town Hall

 

Betts began the meeting saying the Bid Opening procedure would be to open the bids one at a time, report how much the bid was and go on to the next bid. 

 

  1. College City Homes – $203,462.62
  2. Cannon Construction – $172,900.00
  3. Blue Valley Builders – $195,661.00
  4. Professional Contractors – $172,747.00
  5. Luiken Construction – $184,467.00
  6. B & L Builders -  $214,000.00
  7. Northfield Construction - $191,900.00
  8. Red Wing Construction - $193,575.00
  9. Tri-Valley Construction - $199,976.00
  10. VanGuilder Construction – $157,765.00
  11. Kreofsky Building Systems - $188,500.00

 

For a Total of 11 bids.

 

Dave requested looking at the lowest bid from Steve VanGuilder of VanGuilder Construction.

 

Board supervisors proceeded to review and discuss the lowest bid from VanGuilder.

 

Joyce made a motion to accept the construction bid from VanGuilder Construction for $157,765.00, which is the lowest bid.

Dave seconded the motion

Motion passed 3-0

 

Dave called Steve VanGuilder to come forward to speak directly with the board.

 

Contract Expenses and Options were discussed:

 

 

Siding -  3 sidings were discussed

 

Bob made a motion to accept Steel Siding with Aluminum Soffits

Joyce seconded the motion

All in favor say Aye

2 Ayes, 1 nay

Dave Garner voted against

Motion carried 2-1

 

Dave made a motion to accept Bank Letter of Credit

Joyce seconded the motion.

Motion passed 3-0

 

Main Contact person for VanGuilder Construction:

 

Dave suggested having a board supervisor as contact person for VanGuilder Construction for building New Town Hall, any money matters and any changes.

 

Bob suggested having two people.

 

Joyce made a motion for contact people to have Bob Benson be the primary person and Dave Garner be the secondary person.

Dave seconded the motion.

Motion passed  3-0

 

Joyce made a motion to have Betts notify the other 10 construction companies who bid on the town hall receive a letter saying they were not the lowest bidder and thanking them.

Dave seconded the motion

Motion passed 3-0

 

Joyce made a motion to adjourn the meeting.

Bob seconded the motion

Motion passed 3-0
